We handle personal injury and wrongful death claims arising from various types of transit accidents, including:

  • Accidents getting on or off bus or subway systems
  • Other subway or bus accidents

No-Fault Insurance Claims

The New York City Transit Authority governs all subway systems and the majority of bus systems in the New York City area. The Transit Authority is self-insured. Practically-speaking, what this means is that if you are injured in a subway accident or bus accident, you should file a no-fault claim against your own insurance policy or the insurance policy of someone else in your household. Benefits for lost wages and medical expenses can be paid up to $50,000 by most no-fault insurance policies. However, if no one in your household carries no-fault automobile coverage (as is the case for many regular transit riders, most of which may not even own vehicles) the New York City Transit Authority will provide coverage of up to $50,000 for medical expenses and lost wages. No-fault compensation is available regardless of proof of negligence or liability.

Additional Compensation After a Subway or Bus Accident

Proving liability can be difficult after a subway or bus accident. However, if your injuries are severe, such as a spinal cord injury or a complex fracture or head injury, you deserve full compensation for your losses, including compensation for pain and suffering and loss of enjoyment of life. However, in order to recover liability compensation, an experienced attorney must demonstrate that the Transit Authority was responsible for your injuries.
